Singer - Songwriter
Marika is currently seeking gigs to share her soulful, unique songs for piano and voice in listening rooms both locally and beyond. Her gigs in the Asheville area have included Salvage Station, White Horse Black Mountain, Summit Coffee, and the Sly Grog Lounge. Check out some live recordings of her on her Live Recordings page.
Elder Care
Music can be a wonderful source of joy, meaning, and connection for all ages, as well as a great way to engage elderly minds even through the challenges of Alzheimer's and dementia. Marika offers the following services to elder care facilities:

Hour-long performances of her original songs for piano and voice

Booking services to bring other local, original musicians into elder care homes for performance
- Performances or group sings of music from elder folks’ youths
Accompanying
Marika holds eight years of accompanying experience on the keyboard, primarily working with choirs and solo instrumentalists. She is available for one-time and regular accompanying gigs.
SEssion Vocalist
Marika is available as a session vocalist for projects of all varieties. Her particular strengths as a session vocalist include sight-reading, singing in classical styles, and assistance with composition and arrangement.
Pipe Organ
Marika is available to play pipe organ for church services not held on Sunday mornings, as well as weddings and funerals.
Vocal Jazz
A jazz pianist of seven years, Marika has recently branched out to singing vocal jazz and would love to sing with your trio, quartet, quintet, etc. etc. etc. Her voice is particularly well-suited to early jazz. Previous gigs with the Gravyhouse Storytellers have included Isis Music Hall, The BLOCK off Biltmore, and the Social Lounge.
Ethnomusicology Consulting
Marika holds an undergraduate degree in anthropology with a focus on ethnomusicology. Her project on women’s inclusion in community drumming ensembles in Pune, India garnered press in India and was well-received at the 2013 Midwest Society for Ethnomusicology’s meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio. Marika would love to lend her skills in qualitative ethnomusicological research to your project either locally or internationally.
